Hello
All –
It’s that time of the year again that the Flower City Work Camp starts accepting application. The Flower City Work Camp is a faith based organization that has been around for over 20 years and that during the Spring
recess of 2012 will reach out, with over 500 youth and over 200 adult supervisors, to designated locations and work for three
days doing home repairs at no cost to the home owner. They are now accepting applications due
by December 1st. To best qualify the applicants must be of low income and have a owner occupied
single family home. FCWC is looking for a variety of inside and outside work to keep them busy for three days. They cannot
do roof or gutter repairs that are over one story, but that is really the only restriction. All applications will start to
be evaluated in December, homes chosen in January/February and work to be completed in April of 2012.
If you would like more information
please contact Councilwoman Carla Palumbo’s office at 428-5982. Just give me a name, address and phone number and I
will contact the person, explain the program and submit the application . This program really helps some of our most neediest
people and really gets results. Last year they worked on over 60 homes. Please help pass the word. Chuck Stechna

Hi Pam,
I didn't know if the Lyell-Otis Neighborhood Association members were aware of Monroe County's new "HUD
Lead Hazard Control & Healthy Home Grant".
We are offering a reimbursement grant up to $5500/unit to control all lead and healthy home hazards. Costs beyond
the $5500 must be covered by the owner. Please share this information with property owners in your association.
We have room for new applicants as our goal is to make 350 units lead safe. Our grant started in Jan 2010 and will
run until Dec 2012.
Here's a link to our web page that explains our grant and includes a Homeowner Grant factsheet/application:

Hi Pamela,
How are you? This is Jared
from NeighborWorks® Rochester. I hope the first few weeks of spring have been going well. I just wanted to send
a quick email to remind you about NeighborWorks® Rochester’s home repair program. This is the time of year that
homeowners start thinking about repairs, and I just wanted to make sure that Lyell-Otis residents were still aware of our
program. As a non-profit CDFI, we are more flexible than a traditional bank with our loans, and we offer construction
management to ensure that the work is done correctly. Our program has no income restrictions, but we do have a partial
grant for households that qualify based on income.
I also wanted to let Lyell-Otis
residents know that NY State is offering free energy audits to households that earn below $130,000 annually. Residents
can feel free to contact us if they are interested in having a free energy audit done. The audit discloses repairs that
will eventually pay for themselves through lower RG&E bills.
Feel free to contact me if you
have any questions, or you can forward my information to any residents that are in need of home repair assistance.
Sincerely,
Jared Strohl
